RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE AND GERM-X® TEAM UP TO REDUCE THE SPREAD OF GERMS
ST. LOUIS – While germs might keep an otherwise healthy child home from school for a day, a simple sniffle poses a more serious threat to a child whose immune system is compromised. The parents and siblings of these kind of children often stay at Ronald McDonald House of Metro St. Louis, a home-away-from-home for 39 families each night. Germ-X wants to help these family members keep from spreading germs to their loved ones in the hospital. Vi-Jon, Inc., the St. Louis-based maker of Germ-X alcohol-based hand sanitizer, is pleased to announce their partnership with the Ronald McDonald House of Metro St. Louis to provide bottles of hand sanitizer to guests with children at area hospitals. The product, which kills 99.99 percent of many common harmful germs and bacteria, will be included in a welcome bag given to more than 1,500 families who are expected to stay at The Ronald McDonald House this year. Additional bottles will be donated to the Ronald McDonald Family Room at St. John’s Mercy Hospital – a room that offers the comforts of home such as showers and laundry facilities to families with children in the hospital. Since opening its doors in 1981, more than 20,000 families from all over the world have benefited from services provided by volunteers and staff at Ronald McDonald House of Metro St. Louis. Located near St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, the houses offer parents and family members a respite from hospital waiting rooms 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The houses are designed to bring the comforts of home to families with children in area hospitals by providing comfortable beds, warm meals, and kitchen and laundry facilities.
