Germ-X® and Its Suppliers Partner with American Red Cross and Salvation Army
ST. LOUIS, Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- To assist relief agencies in meeting the urgent needs of those affected by Hurricane Katrina, St. Louis-based Vi-Jon, Inc., the makers of Germ-X Hand Sanitizer, and its supplier partners including Alpha Packaging and LithoFlex Label, have teamed up to collectively donate tens of thousands of bottles of Germ-X Hand Sanitizer and Germ-X Soft Wipes.
Many survivors currently do not have access to basic necessities, including water for drinking, bathing and simple hygiene such as hand washing. According to health experts, hand washing is the best way to prevent disease, but in the absence of clean water, the Centers for Disease Control recommend using alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
The first shipment of the donated product arrived at the Houston Astrodome on Sept. 5. The company also is donating product to Hurricane Katrina victims who have relocated to the St. Louis area through the Salvation Army.
"Vi-Jon is committed to giving back to the communities where we do business and to our neighbors in those areas -- whether they are next door or several states away," said John G. Brunner, chief executive officer and president. "The Vi-Jon family has pledged to help make a difference to those affected by this disaster."
Vi-Jon, Inc. has assisted numerous organizations, including local children's homes and military personnel stationed overseas, throughout its100-year history.
